September 23 Update: Buckeye Bulldog Rescue is now accepting applications for Ms. Etta. Here are some things to know before you apply:
Etta's potty training is still a work in progress as she is a stubborn Frenchie that does not understand why she would need to walk ALL the way over to the door, walk down stairs and then into the grass to go to the bathroom when there is a perfectly great place in the home. She needs someone who will stay consistent with her training without becoming easily frustrated. As for her friends, she does great with the interactions with her foster cousins of all shapes and sizes. She prefers to just police other dogs as oppose to risking a nail chip! When playing with her foster brother she enjoys chasing him and then a little ground play. She prefers he ask her before he gets on the couch and bed. She worries that he forgets this is her home and he is just a dog (she thinks she pays the rent). As for a canine companion it would have to be a dog that has a "go with the flow" personality and would rather be the follower than the leader. It is suggested a submissive male. Children make her nervous so she would like a home with 10 + years of age.
She enjoys being a companion and would love to get scratches behind her ears and under her chin ALL DAY! If for some reason you would not want to do that all day she is perfectly content laying on the couch, floor or chewing on a hard toy.
September 7 Update: If you have places to go and people to see this is your girl! Well, as long as those places are your couch and those people are the characters in your Netflix marathon? This girl would be more than happy to just lounge on the couch next to you. She enjoys receiving attention but when it is time to sleep, her favorite spot is the end of the couch. She is very loyal to her person and will want to be by your side no matter what you are doing!
Ms. Etta has made great progress with her potty training and will acknowledge the door when she needs to go. She still has had a few accidents here and there. This girl has been feeling a lot better since we got her! She is now playing with toys and loves to chew on a nice durable chew while you are STILL on the couch watching your Netflix series! She has begun to play with a few dogs and rough house a little bit. She has picked up Boxing from our Boxer in hopes to keep her slender frame!
August 27 Update: Etta is a typical Frenchie and comes with all the unique Frenchie noises. She has been going through bi-weekly baths and is very patient the whole time! She had her first negative skin scraping for her mange and has one more to go. She gets along with dogs that understand this is her world and they are just living in it. She is the rule police! She seems to pick her person and then wants nothing more but to be right next to them. She loves to be cuddled but when she wants to sleep she will sprawl herself out in any position disregarding your personal space. If you are looking for a companion to curl up and read a book, this is your girl!
Intake info: This lil lady comes to us from an owner surrender along with (who we assume to be) her sister. Both girls are emaciated and full of mange. It will be some time before these two are feeling better. Please consider sponsoring them to help with their vet bills.
