Loki has a heart murmur that will need ongoing monitoring. Other than the murmur he is doing very well health-wise. Loki is available for adoption with the understanding that his adoptive family will need to follow up with his cardiologist around August or September to have a repeat echo and bloodwork. This will tell us if his heart condition has remained the same or worsened. So far, it is stable and the cardiologist is hopeful and optimistic that it will remain the same. What this condition means for him in the future: monitored activity levels for exercise intolerance, monitor for abdominal swelling, increased respiratory rate and/or effort, decreased appetite, weakness, collapse or near collapse (staggering/stumbling). He will need follow ups at the recommendation of cardiologist to check bloodwork and possible echo. We cannot rule out the need for medications and/or surgery in future Loki is full of love and joy. He is a special needs boy because He has Pulmonary Heart Stenosis with mild Mitral Valve Dysplasia . This is inherited heart defect that causes thickened valve leaflets that do not open that well as they should. Mitral valve causes backward blood flow across the valve. Loki also only had one scrotum that dropped. Eventually the vet will have to go in to find it and remove it. Sometimes Loki sounds really congested, that usually means he’s overly excited and needs to calm down due to his abnormal heart. He plays and acts just like a normal puppy most of the time. He loves to go on walks isn’t a fan of loud noises and commotion. He enjoys sniffing and barking at everything. He definitely needs more training on the leash. He loves people, dogs and kids. He loves to play in the back yard. He will need a fence for he likes to sniff and wonder around. He will eat dog poop so you have to keep a close eye on him. He loves to chew on his hard chew toys and play tug o war. Loki acts like he's hungry all the time. Don’t buy into his tricks because a lean Bulldog is a healthy Bulldog. Loki also is a whiner. He will whine or bark at you till you pay him attention or if he's blocked off in other room. Loki has to be right by your side with all your attention. He does chew on things so its best to keep things picked up. Loki loves to go bye bye in the car. He is a wiggle butt love bug. He loves his foster siblings an any other dog he comes into contact with. His wrinkles are deep around his nose. We clean them everyday.
