MELON

Intake Date: 6-23-18
Last Update: 7-2-18
Date Available:
Accepting Applications until:
Age: 5
DOB:
Gender:  Spayed Female
Weight: 30.5 Lbs
Energy Level: Moderate to high. Enjoys walks but also happy to lay on the couch next to her humans. Melon is the strongest andmost agile frenchie that we (her foster parents) have ever interacted with. She can easily (and quickly!) get up our two flights of stairs. She is able to jump on the bed, on the couch and onto dining room chairs without pause. She seems to very much enjoy walks and has a high endurance.
Color & Markings: White with Brown spots.
Good with other dogs: Melon is clearly the alpha and showed some food aggression but seems like she could do well with a submissive brother or sister.
Good with cats: Hard No. Melon met a friend's melow cat (that has dog siblings) and did not do well. The cat seemed to make her very anxious and uneasy. She had to be restrained with a harness while in the same room as the cat to keep her from lunging.
Good with kids: BBR Policy states no children under the age of 8+.
Object aggression: No.
Special Needs:  Melon is getting twice weekly medicated baths to help with some missing fur on her back. She is such a good girl in the bath! She patiently stands in the tub for the 10 minute treatment without making a peep!
Medications: Regular heartworm and flea prevention.  A joint supplement would be a good idea too.
Crate Trained: Yes - but the crate isn't her favorite place. Miss Melon will cry / whimper when initially placed in her crate but then seems to calm down after a few minutes.
House Trained: Melon had a few accidents in the first 48 hours she was at our house - which is to be expected. She's been extremely good with potty training. We take her on 3 short walks a day and encourage her when she "does her business" in front of us. She prefers going on walks to potty versus going in the yard.
Physical Fence Required: Not necessary but she must be leashed on walks with a harness. Melon is very strong, so a sturdy harness is a must!
Adoption donation:  $575

My Ideal Home: Hello world! I miss Melon and just as sweet as one! I’m such an explorer! I love being outside, and going on walks. I will do best with someone that will allow me to be involved in moderate activity!  I love playing and chewing on my toys. My new home will need to supply me with toys to chew! I do well at bath time and I love my humans. My favorite thing is to stock up on some warm cuddles on the couch!
