Rookie
Intake Date: 10/19/16 Last Update: 11/4/16 Date Available: 11/5/16 Age: 1.5 DOB: 7/2/15 Gender: Male Weight: 67 pounds of solid cute! Energy Level: I'm active, but I also really like to chill out as frequently as possible. Sleep + lounging = dream for me! Color & Markings: I'm all sorts of handsome with my fawn color and white mask! Can go to a home with other dogs: I do well with other dogs, so if you have some, please don't hesitate to apply! Can go to a home with cats: I haven't been around cats, so we aren't sure that I like them or not! Good with kids: BBR Policy states no children under the age of 8+ so, since I have a fondness for all things toys (especially baby pacifiers) I would do best in a home with children ages 10+ that know it's smart to pick up their beloved toys! Object Aggression: I'm not aggressive toward anything, I can share with others! Special Needs: I like to eat baby pacifiers, baby socks, and small toys! I know, I know, this is dangerous and I've had to have surgery a few times to clear up a blockage. I really want to do better with this, but I could use your help. If you have small items laying around it would be in everyone's best interest if those are put up so that I can't get to them!D I also have an elongated palate I'm told, but the people at BBR want to give me a break from more surgeries. I've already had several in my short life. They just want my potential adopter to know that it will most likely be an expense in the future and in the meantime, my activity should be watched and the amount of time spent in the heat should be kept to a minimum so that I don't overheat. It would't be a bad idea to use a slow feed bowl so that I don't get my food inhaled too quickly! Medications: I'm not on any medications at this time. It would be necessary that you feed me a quality grain free food. I will also need a malacetic wipe to clean my facial fold and ears. Crate Trained: Yes, I don't mind the crate and it would be important that when you aren't home that I'm in a crate so that I can get my big old fluffy paws and mouth on any object you might have accidentally left laying around. House Trained: Yes, my bathroom is outside and I know it! Physical Fence Required: I would love a fence, but if you don't have one, that is okay as long as you KNOW that I need to be on a leash and taken on regular walks. Not too far though, I overheat easily, I'm a bulldog after all! Adoption Donation: $700.00 |

My Ideal Home:
So, here is the thing. You are gonna read about me, and you are gonna say that's a big old boy up to no good. "Good" is relative after all...(lol) I promise you though, I'm just about as perfect as perfect comes! I just need a little training with a trainer, and a family that is invested in making sure that I know what is mine to eat and what is definitely OFF limits. I'm a gentle giant of a bulldog, and my face is super squishy. I love to cuddle and I don't have a mean bone in my body! I'm potty trained and crate trained! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?! I'm just about the best type of love muffin for a loving family who likes to keep an eye on their loving ornery pup! Don't be afraid of my quirks, they are minimal compared to some. I heard through the grapevine that even with all my love for the things I shouldn't have in my mouth, I'm a dream come true. They try to tell me to remain humble, but I'm not buying it. Humble bumble, adopt me! I would. Also, don't let a palate surgery scare you off. I hear many Bulldogs have to have this surgery. I've just had many surgeries lately, and this one is something that my new loving home can address when I'm living the dream in their home!
I am a high energy big pup. I was surrendered to BBR by my owners who were devistated, but because they have small children, I just couldn't keep my paws and mouth off of their small toys! I unfortunately was eating the babies pacifiers and toys. I had to have a surgery to remove it from my bowel. I am a huge cuddle bug and want nothing more then to have you love me and I will love you right back!! I like to take walks and explore the outdoors. I walk great on a leash, but because of my big size, I require a strong grip and observation if being walked by kids.
I love to also explore the inside of my home too. As I've mentioned, I have been known to eat things that I shouldn't so I require observation and boundaries. If you don't want me to have access to the trash, better close the lid. I'm totally fascinated by all things! If I shouldn't chew on that soft toy, it's best to make sure I can't get to it! It would be great if you could keep all food on the counter and out of my mouth. I want all the things! Sometimes, my foster mom just doesn't let me in the kitchen because I'm just so in love with everything in there! I am a tall guy, which makes me handsome they say, but that also allows me to reach things I shouldn't. Please don't be discouraged, I just need to work on my manners they say. I could totally benefit from training with a certified trainer. If I am taught properly about what is mine to chew and what is not mine to chew, everyone thinks that I would totally be the perfect dog. Heck, I think I am already! So does the good people at BBR.
My favorite toy is a nylabone or antler, there are good for me and if you have them around then that would be AMAZING! They are something to keep my mouth and brain busy. Do you like to play fetch? Well, play fetch with me! I usually bring it back, if I'm feeling generous and in the mood to share!
Most of all I want a family who will love me for my lovable side. I want to be your best friend and be included in your life. If you want to watch a ballgame, I'll keep your lap warm and let you scratch my ears! I would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. I'm a big boy, but I'm completely harmless, it's mostly because I don't really know what is mine and what is theirs. So please help me and the skin children learn what I can and cannot have. I really do not want to be in trouble again!!
Thank you for considering me as a potential family member, I promise to work hard for you.
Intake info: Rookie is an owner surrender b/c for the second time in his short life, he had an intestinal blockage due to eating pacifiers and other baby items from the new babies in the house. His family loves him dearly but the exorbitant costs of medical bills were overwhelming; that combined with the risk of it happening again the family decided it would be best to surrender him. Rookie is a dream (minus his eating things he shouldn't fetish).
