Roxey
Prior to applying to adopt, please be sure to read the process information for adoption, accompanied by the rules for adoption consideration: See Link: Adopt a Bulldog
Intake Date: Sept 2016 Last Update: Dec 3, 2016 Date Available: We are now accepting applications for Roxy. Age: I think that people see my age, and they think, "she's old, we might lose her too fast", but I want you to know that I'm a lively spirit and I'm still going strong at a sharp 8 years of age. I like to play, I like to love on my humans, and I love to be a part of a family. DOB: I was born in April and my date of birth is 4/7/2009 Gender: I'm a beautiful female senior bulldog, and I'm so gosh darn sweet, I'm sure you will love me! Weight: I came in at a slender 35 lbs but I have gained a good bit of weight! Energy Level: I have low energy. I'm the perfect companion for someone looking for a love and cuddle bug. Color & Markings: I wear my life's history of my fur, but I still look beautiful as a Brindle Bulldog. At least that's what they tell me! Can go to a home with other dogs: I would do well in a home with a male dog that doesn't mind sharing his space with me. I need a slow introduction and lots of love and patience. Can go to a home with cats: My foster family doesn't have any cats, and they aren't quite sure how I would do with cats. If you have a cat and want to ask before you apply to have me tested with cats, please visit our contact us page. Good with kids: BBR Policy states no children under the age of 8+ so, my ideal home will have: Foster mom doesn't think I would love a home with kids. I'm a senior, and I think kids are wicked cool, but I'm not really interested in living with them. I want to lounge around, roll on my back, play with my things, and get love from my family. I am kind of jumpy and really have had a bit of a tough go round, so foster mom thinks its best for me to go to a home that is nice and quiet. Object Aggression: Because I came in pretty malnourished I tend to be posessive of my food and drink. Can you blame me?!? I was hungry! I won't hurt you though, and I've learned how to accept love and trust from humans. I'm doing very well with this. Special Needs: Like all Bulldogs, I have to eat a high quality, limited ingredient, chicken and grain free dry dog food. This will help extend my life, and keep my fur looking grand! Medications: I have dry eye, and have to take these Eye Drops and ointment everyday. They tell me to not have a complex about it because many English Bulldogs live with dry eye. Crate Trained: Yeppers, I don't mind the crate and I have no problem staying in one. House Trained: Yep, not only do you get a layed back senior gal, you get a house trained one too! Physical Fence Required: Foster mom says I do a good job of staying in the yard when we are outside, and doesn't see any reason for me to need a physical fence. A harness and a leash, and I'm a happy camper! Adoption Donation: $300.00 |

My Ideal Home:
Hi hi, I'm Roxey, don't let my age fool ya! I still have a lot of life left in this seasoned body! I have had a hard life, but I have so much love and joy to bring to any adoptive family. I know many people are worried that due to my age, I won't be around very long, but the folks at BBR would like you to know that nothing in life is promised, but I can promise that living with a loving home for however many years I have ahead of me is exactly what I need and what rescue is all about! One week, One year, 5-years, I will love every second of living with you.
Foster mom says I would do best in a home no children because I am a little bit jumpy. I am sometimes good with other dogs, but I am still learning. Maybe if you have a clam male dog in your home, I would like that with a slow intro! I have recently started to play with toys a little bit more, but tire quickly and then go back to napping. I have spent many years being negelcted and not getting much love and attention. So I really need a home that will give me lots of love and attention. It will take some time for you to learn my quirks and me some time to learn to trust you. Because I spent so much time hungry and thirsty I will need to learn that I wont have to go through that again, and that you will always give me a really great grain free, high quality diet. But I am well worth the wait and you will be showered with my love and cuddles. Foster mom says I love cuddling up on her lap for naps. That's a great sign when you consider how little love I have received in the past!
