My Ideal Home:
Vito has THE sweetest heart and does not have a bad bone in his body. However, he is ALL PUPPY. Therefore, you should anticipate puppy-proofing your house prior to his arrival. Vito does not discriminate when it comes to accidents, so I would wait until he’s fully potty-trained to allow him to sleep with you at night.
Vito is a chewer – anytime he chews on something he should not, I instantly correct him with a moose antler (his fav) or a Nylabone. He has no interest in shoes but put him around wooden furniture and you need to make sure you keep an eye on him. Right now, he has several very durable chew toys and as long as I make sure he has a few with him, he focuses on those rather than furniture.
Vito is constantly on the go – so you should be, too! Vito behaves best when he exercised daily. We go on a walk every day after work if weather permits. Typically 2-3 miles. He LOVES playing ball and he usually brings it back after he retrieves! That is also a great way to burn energy, and it makes him a proud, even happier little guy.
Vito is smart. Very smart. We are currently working on basic commands and he is crushing it. He is food motivated and I use training treats when I work with him.
Vito has a long way to go in terms of house-training. He provides no indication that he needs to go out. I have him on a regular schedule and that definitely helps. I also use potty pads, and 90% of his accidents are on them. So, he definitely understands to use them.
An ideal home for Vito will be structured & active. Another young dog that likes other dogs. Pawrents that have A LOT of patience and prior experience with raising a puppy preferred.
He is not just an adorabull puppy, he is a lot of work, and will eventually be quite costly like most Frenchies are. Please keep this in mind if you decide to apply for him.
Vito will do best in a home that has a large, fenced in backyard. A fenced in backyard will be most efficacious for this continued potty training
Not only will a fenced in backyard help with ongoing house breaking, but it will allow him more space to burn off steam leash-free.
Additionally, as most Frenchies are, Vito is prone to tear stains. I use Angel Eyes (sweet potato) He loves the taste, and it really works.
