Intake Date: 2/14/20
Last Update: 3/25/29
Age: 4 (estimated)
Weight: 42 lbs
Energy Level: low, laid back except for bouts of playing.
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with kids: BBR Policy states no children under the age of 8+.
Object aggression: Non
Special Needs: Zella needs routine care including wiping her folds and cleaning her ears daily along with regular baths. She is very good with this.
Medications: regular heartworm and flea prevention
Crate Trained: She dislikes a crate and needs treats and encouragement to go into one. She does like an ex-pen with a blanket or bed. She does not have accidents in her ex-pen when she is in there.
House Trained: Zella is still working on it and making improvements every day. Some times she will go to the door to ask to go out. She is almost 100 % house trained for bowel movements and about 75% with urine and they are close to the door.
Physical Fence Required: She needs a fence. She likes to walk around the yard, sun herself and play with the other dogs.
My ideal home: Zella would love a home with at least one other dog to play with. She initiates play and plays well with other dogs, but then is ready to hang out or take a snooze.
She would love her own place or spot. She hangs out on her bed when she wants time to reflect on life. And will still move it around to keep an eye on things as she is a little bit nosey.
Zella is laid back and quiet with bursts of energy where she plays or will want to chew. She likes to chew a daily dental treat and there are antlers around the house she will pick up and chew on.
Zella would like a house that might be excited around feeding time or on other occasions, but overall more on the sedate side as she sometimes startles easily.
She handles a few stairs, but is not big on climbing a lot of stairs so a home that is single floor or that she could not have lots of steps into the yard would be good.
Her humans should enjoy petting her and talking to her. She is typically quiet unless playing or wanting someone to play with her. It's OK if they work outside of the home. Zella just hangs out until someone comes home. She is very content.
Zella is food motivated. She will hang out in the kitchen and is always ready for a meal or snack. She wants to eat first, but is pushy not aggressive. She benefits from eating separately from others.
