Volunteer
We are always looking for help, especially new ideas, thoughts and talent! Volunteers fill all of the roles at BBR, including administrative work, event planning, dog fostering, transportation of dogs and more. Please see below for any areas in which we could use support!
General Volunteer application:

Reference Screener/Virtual Home Visits
- Responsible for calling references for adoption and foster applicants
- Must be willing to make phone calls and be able to work with a team
- Availability should be flexible and include weekdays and weekends. This is likely not a role for someone who likes to plan everything in advance due to the nature of it and needing calls at the drop of a hat.
- Time commitment varies but expect 5~10 hours a week
Post-Adoption Committee Member
- Reports to Post-Adoption Committee Manager. Responsible for connecting with adopters to follow up on the wellbeing of adopted dogs via phone, email, text, in-person visits etc.
- Time commitment: will require a large initial time commitment of about 10-20 hours per week
- Experience: Ability to communicate effectively and work with a team. Must be organized and willing/able to make phone calls.
Foster Family Advocate
- Acting as a foster mentor, supports new and existing foster families. Connects with their assigned fosters on a regular basis via phone, text, email etc. Answers questions/concerns as needed.
- Time Commitment: Due to the nature of this type of volunteer work, time commitment will vary but volunteer must be flexible and accessible on an as needed basis to include daytime, evenings and weekends
- Experience: Prior foster experience with BBR of at least 6 months, preferably longer. Knowledge of BBR’s policies/procedures and willingness to attend ongoing trainings
